Victor, Rama, & Arya.

Hello, people!


Today's family session features a very special couple. They have showed me what true leadership is all about as I was growing up as a teen, they were the listening ears to many young souls who were lost & depressed, and this couple has touched many lives through their obedience & love for God.

This couple is none other than Victor & Rama. They now live in Himachal Pradesh which is in the northern part of India, serving together as missionaries with their beautiful daughter, Arya. Have I mentioned that Arya has the sweetest smile ever? Ohmy, Arya's smile will melt your heart. Yes it will. 

So when I first saw them together with a group of people, I was thinking to myself if I could take pictures for this family but I thought to myself "Hmmm, maybe I shouldn't ask. Maybe not yet". Just a few hours later, Victor approached me & asked if I could have a family photoshoot for them. Ah! Such timing. Here are some of my favourite shots from the photoshoot, I hope you like them just as much as I do :)

Thank you for allowing me to be apart of this :) Just watching Arya growing up in the hands of the both of you brings a warm joy into my heart. This beautiful baby is definitely in good hands and she will be a great blessing to those around her just as you both are.

I have lost count of the many times where strangers have mistaken these boys as my sons. I won't deny the fact that there are moments where I do feel like their mom. I also won't deny the fact that these boys have made an impact in my life, they have such a special place in my heart. When I come back home feeling so tired, they call my name aloud and give me the warmest hug. I've watched them grow before my eyes and all I can say that is that I thank God for these boys. For showing me that the simplest things in life can bring joy & fun, for showing me the true meaning of transparency and for showing me that we can still smile even when things get rough. My prayer is that these boys will experience more of Jesus in their life & to be more like Him each day.

Time.

So, my final semester has just started and the very first assignment I had was from General Studies which is a compulsory subject for private college students (Yay assignments!)
Basically, this assignment was about time & stress management. We were asked to draw out a time-table to show how we manage our time. Funny isn't it? I mean, college students and time tables in the 21st century, really?
But anyways, I still did it.



As I finished my work, I paused for a moment and stared at the time table.

24 hours in a day,
1440 minutes in a day,
7 days a week,
10080 minutes in a week.
That's a lot of time, guys. A lot of time.




Juggling work life with studies hasn't exactly been the easiest thing but I know that it's worth it. I will not deny the fact that getting out of bed hasn't been very easy, even with the help from my beloved alarm clock ringing every 5-10 minutes. As I look at my time table, I think to myself "Am I making every second of the day count?"



When I'm going through Facebook, could I have been doing something more beneficial?

Maybe I could have been spending time with my nephews and invest life into these boys.

Maybe I could have been reading books or articles which can help me to pursue my passion in life.

When I want to spend time alone & relax, could I have been a better friend to someone else?

Maybe I could have spent more time just to be there and support someone at his/her lowest point in life.

When I'm enjoying my favourite meals, could I have used this money for something better?

Could I have done something better than this?

You may ask, "How does 2 hours of Facebook even kill someone?"
Well, 2 hour a day doesn't. But what about 56 hours a month? 672 hours a year?
There's nothing wrong in rewarding yourself and doing things that you love, but what does life even mean if our time is revolved only around ourselves?



It's really easy to fall back into our zone where it's all about our needs, our wants, our desires, our hopes, and our demands.
But I think that sometimes, just investing a little time for others will help you to understand life better.
It helps you to appreciate the every second in life that you have on Earth.
I want to make sure that I make every second of the day count, even if it means making some mistakes along the way.





I will try.
I want to make it count.

The Hng Family.

Yes, it's already 2015. I hope all of you are doing well so far :) So, here's the FIRST photoshoot I had in 2015 with a lovely group of people. They're a unit with so much joy and love for one another. I couldn't help but to feel comfortable in the warmth of this family's love. The previous photoshoot (which you can click HERE) consists of 4 people, well this photoshoot consists of 7 :)  I must say that every time there's an adorable baby (just like one which you will see soon) in a photoshoot, my heart jumps just a tiny wee bit with joy, I mean like, who doesn't love cute babies?!

As I have mentioned before that my favourite kind of shots are those which are candid, unplanned & beautiful in it's own way, well these guys definitely did just that :) They were not only co-operative with the ideas I gave, they were also just having fun behind & in front of the camera & I love that. Thank you for allowing me to capture these precious moments with all of you. I hope that the pictures taken will be a reminder of God's goodness & faithfulness over your family. Do continue to strengthen & love one another. Am looking forward to more sessions with you guys in the future as baby Jayden has many more adorable siblings! ;)

The Ch'ngs

Hello, people!

Before I start... Blessed 2015, everybody! It's good to be back again and to be able to share with all of you on something I recently worked on. There's just something about anniversaries, where two souls joined as one celebrate their love story and as the years go by, the love is strengthened. Be it 5 years or 50 years of marriage, I believe that anniversaries need to be cherished and celebrated every year. Well, just about a week ago, I had the privilege to capture two very special people's 6th anniversary.

These two lovelies are none other than Gabriel & Eunice Ch'ng.  For some of you who have been following my work, they are the parents of the good looking boys also known as the Ch'ng Brothers. As you go through these pictures, you will understand where the Ch'ng Brothers' good looking genes come from!

So, rain poured early in the morning. Hence, the photoshoot had to be done indoor which is different from what I had planned earlier but it was still a good session with them :) Definitely look forward to more anniversary photoshoot sessions with lovely couples!

Congratulations again, you two! Continue to dance in the different seasons of life and here's to many more sweeter years ahead for the both of you and the boys :)

Hello, people.


Much apologies for being away! Exams have just ended for me. So thankful that my exams ended on the second week of December and it did not clash with the best time of the year, Christmas.


So yes, I've been away from home.


I've always been a lightpacker. You know, like how there's that 1 person in the group that will only carry one backpack for a 3D2N getaway, yep, that's me.

Not this time round, guys... Not this time round...

Camera + 2 flashes + 4 lenses + laptop

Never have I EVER packed this much in my life.


But with His grace & strength, I pulled it through. *victory song plays.


I definitely am excited to share with you guys on some things I  have been working on. Do remain patient with me alright?

Success

Many people have different definitions of what success is to them.

To some, success is the strings of As or the CGPA figure printed on certificates.

To me, success is doing what you love and doing it with excellence.

Now I know that some of you reading this are laughing to yourself as you may think "What does this 19 year old have to say about success when she has barely experienced the real world yet?"

Well, you're right :) I know that I have not fully experienced the real world compared to the older generations who have way more experience than me.

But I do also know that everyone has the right to share what's on their mind.


Hence, this post.

I was a student in a secondary school which was labelled as one of the elite schools in Penang. Not bragging about anything, the only reason why my parents, especially mom made me go to this school is because it was really near from home. (No need to wake up super early in the morning. Yay!)

Was never the top student in school, but rather an average student. So when we received our PMR results, it was then time for us to decide which stream we wanted to take for form 4 & 5.

Science or Arts stream?

I knew that science wouldn't be my interest but then again, I wasn't too sure about it. But what made me think twice about it was how the art stream class was placed.

There are 6 classes in total, and arts stream class would be the last.

For some reason, it wouldn't look cool if a straight As PMR student went for the last class in form 4 & 5. Like, wouldn't that be like a downgrade? Because the art stream class was the last class and that.

Did that affect my decision? Yes it did.

Everyone is created differently and uniquely. Everyone. 

A doctor cannot cook like how a Char Koay Teow chef can.
Neither can an engineer paint like an artist.

We live in a society that tells you to be of something that the world can accept and approve as a "successful" job.

I find it very rare when a young person shares his/her dreams of becoming a painter or a dancer and the crowd responds in a positive way.
Why? Because becoming any of that is not successful?


But at the same time, many people miss the mark.


Like how people would say things of Bill Gates & Mark Zuckerberg who were uni dropouts. Yes, they were uni dropouts (HARVARD dropouts in fact), but there was something which they were good at, something of which they were excellent in.


So what am I saying?
Don't give your best in studies and do whatever you want?
Absolutely not.


Giving your best in everything is important.
Education is important.
Everyone needs to be educated to grow in life.
But education is not the only way of measuring success. It isn't.


If someone is not the top student in his/her school but cooks good food at home.
Don't give up on that person. Don't ever give up on that person.
Use education as a pathway for him/her to grow and nurture that passion of culinary.


Writing this post was rather a challenge for me personally because it is definitely a big & heavy reminder for myself.


A reminder to stop viewing the cleaners cleaning the street or those who drive buses & vans to pick kids up from school as "less successful" people because hey, if they love what they're doing and they are doing it well, what's not successful about that?


Wouldn't the world be a boring place if everyone were engineers? There'd be no good chefs to cook good food!

I'm not implying that being an engineer is a bad thing, but not everyone is meant to be an engineer.

A Man's Best Friend.

Hey, guys!

Well, I decided to break the normal routine of blog updates only on Friday & want to give all of you a short update on a simple photoshoot which happened about two weeks ago.  So, a good friend of mine, Sara whom I've been friends with since I was 13, asked if I could help her take some pictures of something she treasures a lot . They're kind, patient and above everything else, they are loyal :) 

Who am I talking about? Dogs!

For one who loves but has never owned a dog at home, I could not say no to that! I am also quite very very very very scared of  dog bites which may appear as though I don't really like dogs because I seem to keep some distance away from them because of my little phobia, but I actually do :) I'm not fond of cats though (Sorry to all cat lovers out there!)

So, Sara has six dogs altogether at home. Yes, six :) Here are some pictures taken during the "photoshoot" with our 6 models.

This is our beautiful golden retriever, a mother of 3 adorable little puppies.

The fourth is a Pomeranian, Teddy.

Teddy is a natural poser/model. I'm sure you would agree with me from this picture.
