Spontaneous Sunday

After having lunch with the FireBRANDS on a sunday afternoon, the both of us decided to head to town for a cup of coffee.

Talking about design, art, and all that.. I said "Hey, let's walk to E&O hotel"

I told him about this one spot which I had my eyes on since 4-5 years back when I was there with a group of friends taking photos

So this guy willingly said yes and he became my model for the day!

It was all spontaneous, we were just walking around the hotel and I decided to take some shots at this particular spot :)

All of these were taken with his iPhone because.....sadly my Google phone isn't very good when it comes to camera quality and speed.

So yes, I am not an Apple fan but I must say that in terms of  phone camera quality, they're the best... For now. (Google, do something quick!)

Reminder.

God is good, all the time.

He puts a song of praise in this heart of mine,

God is good, all the time,

In the darkest night, His light will shine

God is good,

God is good,

All the time.

Flashback.

Just three days ago, I received the news that Bukit Jambul Girls Team won the KFSPP competition.

Boy, I was so so happy to hear that :) I couldn't stop smiling when I received the news.

Hats off to EVERYONE in the team and to their awesome captain, Mesha! That girl is a fighter and her determination has always caught my attention ever since she started joining the club.

Later at night, I was talking to Ruben, a school friend of mine as he was updating me about how the girls played etc.

Just so you know, Ruben was the captain for the BJ Boys Team in 2012.. and they were... *coughs. Champions of the year. ;)

After the short conversation, I started to think back about the experience I had during KFSPP 2012.

It was a bucket of different emotions all in one - nervous, scared, inferior, excited, super duper nervous.

Being the captain for the girls team wasn't my choice, I knew that floorball wasn't much of my passion.

However, due to circumstances, I had to take up this role and work alongside with Ruben.

Looking back to KFSPP 2012, which was two years ago, during the final match and how my team lost during a penalty shoot, I remember breaking down immediately as I got off from the court.

I usually don't cry, but at that very particular moment, tears just rolled down from my eyes and I couldn't control them.

I remember feeling like a failure to my coach, my friends and everyone in the team.

Heart breaking would probably be a mild statement to describe the situation.

And till this very day, I thank God for a few people that stood by me throughout my 2012.

One of them is Chow Zhu Qing :)

This girl found out that I broke down in one of the toilet cubicals, waited outside until I came out and gave me the longest hug, telling me it's okay.

You supported us, you cheered for us, you shouted for us, and you were there for me at my lowest point.

Despite the fact that we are so many miles apart and barely communicate now, know that I'm thankful for you :)

To the other Jambulians who have been there for me as well, Su Ann, Sara, Hui Mui, Kimberly, Ruben, and Daniel Boey :) thank you all so very much.

April

I don't know about you, but the fact that it's already April kinda scares me a little. Like, how did time fly by so so fast?

Anywhooooo...

So the guy did some research and insisted to tell me where we gonna dine in but somehow I kinda found out. Kinda like how I found out that we were going to KL for my birthday last year. He still has a longggg way to master his skills in keeping secrets from me. ;)

He definitely did a good job in his research cause the food was *double thumbs up!

While we were about to finish our meal, the waiter came and asked him if he wanted his Irish Coffee to be served and then he asked (with his English/American accent) "would you like to try our Banana (something) dessert to go along with your coffee?"

and bam, the dessert came.

We both looked at each other when the desert was served and he said " I think this is fine dining"
Hahah.
But all in all, the food+company were great :)
thank you again, Mr Roy!

So my sem break is coming to an end soon.... What have I been doing eh?

Sweeping, mopping, folding clothes, drying clothes, washing clothes, scolding nate for not doing his homework,   guiding Nate through his homework, reading, spending time with fireBRANDS, ukulele-ing, getting MORE sleep, and of course.....

Doing what I love : taking pictures :)

That's about it, guys. Just a short & quick update :) till next time!

threeone/three/onethree.

You were once my transport provider,

Then you became my singing partner/guitarist,

To my ukulele teacher,

And now.... you're all three!

Thank you for allowing me to see things in a different perspective, thank you for supporting me when I had nothing much left in me, thank you for making me smile and laugh with the lamest and wittiest things you say, thank you for praying for me and thank you for being the companion that I am always thankful for.

365 days ago, a new chapter in our life began and I look forward to brand new chapters ahead :)

We are not the sweetest, cutest, and most adorable couple and yes we have differences (many of them actually), but one thing is for sure, God has and will always make this possible and beautiful.

FireBRANDS Leadership Retreat 2014

Hey people!

Am currently on my semester break and once in a while, people will ask me what do I do during my semester break.

Well, to be honest, there is always, always things for me to do during the break. It's quite rare for me to wake up and realize that there is nothing I need to do. It's a short break and it's gonna end soon actually but here is a portion of my semester break spent on Penang Hill with the leaders of FireBRANDS, my church's youth group ministry.  This is actually my sixth time on Bethel House of Prayer but I am never bored coming to this place. Nonetheless, everytime I'm up on this hill, I'm with a different set of people, sharing a different yet great experience. :)

Alrighty, those are just some of the photos taken from the 3D2N retreat. Will be posting up the whole album on my Facebook profile

Thanks for reading!

Focus.

Love is patient.

So the both of us attended his friend's wedding and halfway through the night, we were talking about the song choices from the band performance of the night

Talking about music etc, then Roy's friend asked him to go up on stage and sing instead.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

AND HE DID!

No I'm kidding. He wouldn't. :D

Then his friend mentioned about the Thousand Years/Twenty-Four cover that he watched and some of Roy's soundcloud recordings as well :) Yes, Roy has quite a number of fans when it comes to his singing. If you ask him about it, his first response is "No lahh..... No fans.."

Which made me think.. That cover was three years ago. Three.

It's crazy when you think of how many things has changed over the span of a year alone, but then again.. change is good :)

Nonetheless, I still and always will enjoy singing with this guy. In fact, just listening to him singing and playing alone sometimes is like a therapy session for my mind and ears.

Yes, you will hear a few off-pitch notes (from me, of course) and yes, I was really nervous at that point of time which explains why I needed to warn people for any musical mistakes.

Knock Knock.

You know you're quite stressed out when you get agitated by little things happening around you.

You know you're quite stressed out when a friend of yours tells you a "knock knock" joke and you reply " okay this isn't funny anymore. im sorry"

SORRY, Sara! It was still funny though!

You know you're quite stressed out when you wake up and see strands of hair all over your room floor..

and
they
are
all
yours.

BUT NONETHELESS.

*BREATHES IN HEAVILY

I GOT THIS.

Family

Hello hello,

I know I mentioned about updating my family photoshoot quite a while back but I barely had the opportunity to do so. Been really occupied especially now that I'm on my short semester.

But anyways, here it is!

Mom has been wanting to have a new updated family photo now that my second brother in law, Nic is added into the family (yay!)

And because CNY is the only time which everyone was around, we decided to have it then :)

Mom & I were thinking of where we should take the photos at first because of the two little boys, 1 and 5 years old boys.

Somewhere not too crowded.... not too hot... not too noisy...

Well, our home it is!

   Testing, testing...

So while I while adjusting the color, exposure etc...
Evan got off from my mom's lap and started walking.
Spot Evan below!

and he was just casually walking around in circles while everyone was getting ready..

Euodia was like "Look at this boy!"

So, big brother Nate wanted to get his brother to come back, so he stood up and tried to grab hold of Evan

and BAM!
.
.
.
.
.

Evan fell down.

Evan : *cries
Nate : I was just trying to get Evan!
Everyone : Nate.......

Look at the facial expressions of EVERYONE here.
Especially the ladies.

So everything was on hold for a while just to make sure that Evan was okay
Okay, he's alright!
Back to business :)

Before I end this post, a shoutout to Mr Tan Le Roy for helping me with some photoshop edits :)

Alright, that's the end of my post.
Will be on hiatus mode for now until most of my things are settled.
Thanks for visiting!

Comm[u]nicat[i]on

I'm not the most observant girl you'll meet but there are certain things which I notice

Some of the observations that I have happens to be when I'm out.

Cafes, restaurants, coffee shops.

When I look around me, I see tables of couples having a meal together, families eating together, friends having a cup of coffee, and some are eating alone.

And nope, I don't observe the food they eat if you're wondering.

I observe the people.

And it saddens me sometimes when I see family members sitting together on that one same table
where everyone is so near yet so far apart.

What do I mean?

When everyone is in their own world, where the only faces they see is the ones on their phone screen instead of the ones right in front of them.

Sometimes, I wonder if we have actually forgotten that some of them came all the way just to see us and not the back of our phones.

I wonder if we have actually forgotten the meaning of communication

Where there is an "I" and "U" in the word communication

Where communication has always and is a two way thing.

I don't blame the existence of devices, they have helped us in so many ways.

Thanks to technology, we don't have to wait for days and weeks just to get another reply from someone.

But if technology is the only way to communication,  I think something isn't right.

Keep Fighting.

You only know how strong you really are when life gets tough.

When unexpected things come your way and you have no choice but to do something about it.

You wished that you weren't involved in it but not involving yourself in it won't be something you wish either.

When you feel tired and weary and you feel like breaking down.

You decide whether or not to stay strong or lose the battle.

When I feel discouraged, I remind myself of others that are facing even harder battles in life.

Kay Elle.

So this weekend went by really fast and I definitely enjoyed every bit of it.

Well I was asked to take pictures for Dreamcatcher, a technical training company at their KL branch.

This was an interesting experience for me personally because its basically a planned out shoot where I tell them what pose I want from them etc.

Smth different from all the usual experiences where I basically follow the plan and capture whatever there is.

This means more editing work for me :)

Later at night, me and leroy followed Euodia and Nic to their condominium.
The place left me in awe, I'm not even kidding.

This picture below really doesn't do any justice but man, the condo is off dah hooook!

Oh, we went over to use the gym.
When you have good and new facilities in the gym plus a view overlooking the pool, it gives you more motivation to run more :)

Right after a good sweat out, we went for out for a late late dinner.  Haha.

Fish and chips! *slurps.

So there's this place in Bangsar that is famous for their breakfast and brunch.
The very first time I was introduced to this placed by my sister and Nic, i loved it already.

Mmhmm, antipodean :)

And that was the last time I was there, about a year ago, (same story like the Wan Tan Mee)
So yeahhh. It was leroy's first time trying this place out.

For me, any breakfast that has eggs makes it even yummier, I love love love eggs.

Good breakfast and wonderful company = Great kick start for the day!

Before I end this post, I wanna thank this person...

*points below

This guy here is one amazing guy :)

With very little sleep, he drove to and back from kl.
Even with his eyebags and casual yawns, he says that he "isn't tired". Must be the red bull. Hahah

Thank you, mr tan :)

Not only for the long hours drive, but also for making sure that you carry my things even when I tell you that I can carry them all on my own, accompanying me patiently while I shop for girls stuff and for being a great boyfriend :)

Yuh Duh Best! :)

This trip was a good one despite the limited time we had.

While we were both on our way to KL, he was feeling worried about a certain work issue and I was feeling a little nervous because of the photoshoot, and I told myself to pray for the both of us when we reached the office.

But somehow, adrenaline rush kicked in and all, I forgot.

After we finished our work, when we got into the car, he shared about how he felt the need to pray more especially when things go rough (example : work) rather than using our human strength and fixing it.

Thats the thing about humans :) when we think we know it all, that's actually when we don't.

And I felt that it was a strong reminder even for myself. To seek Him first in everything I do.

Even if its a short prayer before you do something, it can make a difference :)

My next update will be on my family photoshoot which I will share with you guys soon. Take care!

 Hey guys!

Decided to update this blog while I'm having my lunch now :)

Spending most of cny in my other grandma's house :)

Celebrated Le Anne's 21st birthday with the Tans :)

Why Photography?

Hey guys :)

If you have been reading this blog or if you know me, you would also know that I love photography :) and some of you have asked "why photography?"

Well, for me, it's because photos capture moments that we do not want to forget. Beautiful occasions such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

All these get-together celebrations always bring a warm fuzzy feeling with all that laughter and joy.

And that's why I love photography, I love it when a photo captures the moment perfectly.

When you can look back at a photo and remember exactly what was happening there.

And sometimes I find it abit of waste when beautiful occasions such as weddings don't have many pictures that are able to capture the moment.

Because it's moments like this that come only once in a lifetime, so they really should be captured well.

So anyways, when did I start photography? :)

Well, it started off when my second sister, Euodia got her SPM present after getting her flying colors results.

3.2 megapixel camera, people.
three point two.
I'll just let that sink in first.

So my sister started baking and took a few pictures of some of things she baked.

One day, she asked me to help her take a few pictures of this cookie she baked.

I was like "what? me?" cause I really had no clue in taking pictures.

She introduced to me this feature called the "macro" feature. This creates the blurry background and the object is really close up.

Ever since then, I started taking pictures with this 3.2 digital camera cause I really liked the macro feature.

No edits and these were some flowers I found at my old neighbour's garden. Ya know, like just casually taking pictures of peoples' plants.

I was 14 years old when I begin taking pictures. That's also when I started becoming vainer, taking pictures of myself. Hahah.

This was taken with a Canon G12. It's a semi-dslr.
Took this at MBTS, Penang while coordinating my church junior youth retreat.

So I decided to post some of my favourite pictures on facebook and that's when my family begin realizing this new hobby of mine.

When I was 15, I asked my mom if I could get a DSLR because the 3.2 megapixel camera was no longer with me, my sister was then living in KL already.

My mom made a deal that I would get a DSLR once I give her straight As for PMR.

While waiting for PMR to come, I continued taking pictures with some of my friends' camera.

So one day, while I was on facebook, I decided to send a message to my mom's church friend, who is an AMAZING photographer.

Basically the message was about me asking him to look at some the pictures I have taken and give some comments so that I can improve

This AMAZING ( I js had to repeat that) photographer was happy to help and gave a lot of constructive comments and asked that if I'm really into photography, that I should go to him weekly and learn up some stuff

I was about to pop the champagne and cue some fireworks I tell you.

So anyways, this photographer is Uncle Jonathan Kwok :) unfortunately, I had a few weekly classes before he and his family left for missions.

Before he left which was actually my PMR results, my mom decided to get me a Nikon D90.

Starting of 2011-2012, I took less photos due to my hectic school schedule. Holding the Christian Fellowship president title, floorball captain, cell group leader and worship leader in church, I barely had time to touch my camera.

But 2013 was a time for me to start taking pictures again :)

This picture was taken today :) Say hello my second nephew, Evan Ch'ng. Cheeky baby that puts a smile on your face without even trying.

I definitely hope to take more photos and my dream is to meet Jenny Sun one day :) am a huge fan of her works. Just love how you can feel the mood and atmosphere while looking at her pictures.

If you can, do google her and you will know what I'm talking about ;)

Before I end this post, I wanna thank my mom and dad for granting this camera that helped me in pursuing my passion, I wouldn't be able to take any of these photos without the PMR present :)

Lastly and most importantly, thank You God for every opportunity to do what I love.

Have a blessed Chinese New Year ahead, people! Don't forget to spend time with your precious loved ones cause that's always the beauty of festivities and celebrations.
